In 2017, Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee released Despacito and it was the top-streamed track during the course of six months. It was a mixture of reggaeton and pop music has not just brought interest to reggaeton, but also drew interest to Latin music more generally. The Billboard Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs in 2016, and two songs in 2015. During the height of Despacito's popularity, however 19 mostly Spanish songs made it to the Top 100 as well, and by 2020 there were 41 of them. Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito was released in the year. Soon after, famous artists began collaborating with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018), and Madonna was a part of Maluma for the release of Medellin. Certain reggaeton performers expressed their displeasure at the rise of mainstream music in the year 2020. However, a brand newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro wanted to maintain the evolution and development of reggaeton. Rauw Alejandro incorporated electronic dance forms and other genres into his songs.
