Zoe Saldana's parents, Asalia and Aridio Saldana, were born the 19th of June 1977 in Passaic New Jersey. Both her parents have both been Puerto Ricans. She was raised in Queens, New York. Her family relocated to the Dominican Republic at the age of 10 where they would stay for the rest of seven years. Zoe discovered a keen passion for dancing while in the United States. She began her training with the ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy to learn ballet, along with a myriad of other dance styles. The training she received was not just an excellent way to exercise an eager child, but was also the ideal preparation for her future acting career as a professional. Zoe and her family emigrated back to America with Zoe at the age of 17. United States with Zoe at 17 and her interest for the arts of dance and theater grew.
