Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. Selmon is the youngest of children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon, who had him raised on the farm they owned in Eufala. Two, football. He was one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. All three became All-America. In 1973, Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starters for one year. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the nation by the Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. Over the course of three seasons, Roy was on the field, Oklahoma won two National Championships. A third scholarship saw him named a National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the university of California, Berkeley. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work in his college days. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. He also began his career in the field of business. The year 1988 was the first time he began working as an Account Relation Officer for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of Ten of America's top young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs in the time he played football at college. He was a captain in 1975. led the group. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993, as Associate Director of Sports. The College Football Hall of Fame recognized his in 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. Parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor that made the award.
