Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Born and raised on the outskirts of Barcelona, she has been described as being an "atypical pop artist" due to her diverse musical styles. When she was of thirteen, she fell in fascination with Spanish folk music and studied musicology at the Catalonia College of Music. She was also seen at weddings and music bars. Reimagining flamenco, mixing it with hip-hop and pop music, it produced the hit singles "Malamente" and "Pienso in tu Mira", which caught the attention of the Spanish general public, and then were released to wide applause from the critics. El Mal Querer, who was honored with the Latin Grammy Award as Album of the Year and listed in Rolling stone's 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time has paved the way for her rise into the international scene of music. Rosalia's 2019 albums "Con Altura" (13) and "Yo x Ti Tu x Mi" (12-13) were a pioneer in urbano , which earned her global success. The singer gave reggaeton a unique approach to her third album Motomami (2022) and departed from the modern flamenco sound of the album that preceded it. The album garnered international attention due to its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and went on to become the album that received the highest rating of the year on Metacritic. Rosalia has had ten number one songs in her native country in the span of her entire career. This is the highest number she has ever achieved for a local artist. Rosalia has been awarded 11 Latin Grammy Awards, two Grammy Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, four MTV Europe Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards, and two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award, in 2019 for "changing the current sound of mainstream songs by introducing her unique flamenco pop". 18 years ago, she was also the first singer from a Spanish group to be nominated as the Best New Artist at the Grammys. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She is the youngest of four children born to Pilar Tobella, an entrepreneur who runs a small metalworking company. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They split in 2019. Rosalia showed an interest in performing arts at a young age, and particularly after discovering the discography of Camaron de la Isla. In the Taller de Musics, she began her music education.
